Although some security guru's have said they do very little to stop the really bad stuff. Note, I am runnning XP, on a old desktop. Got tired of uninstall/install, so switched these machines to use Chrome as a browser and that is a stop-gap - site now works. Was having the same issue. Shockwave Flash Unresponsive Chrome In such cases, uninstalling Shockwave and then re-installing Shockwave is the surest fix. If it doesn't work, try to disable the other version, but you need to disable one of them. I've done everything these recommended "solutions" have said to do.
