I get bsod stop code 0x0000007e. I can't believe Microsoft did not send a bulletin regarding this MAJOR issue. Me thinks say what so I come out and have a look and notice - what seem's to be a dodgy... Bear-Bear P.S.

Staples didn't know as much about it as I did. I'm not trying to install the VSP2 or WS 2008 SP2 and don't receive that error. Loosing time on it since yesterday… now fixed! After fixed the problem, I turned off automatic update but my computer still telling me I have important update (KB970653) dated Aug 25.

It will tell you what drivers are likely to be responsible for crashing your computer. The update log does show kb973879 being installed, though. This update was supposed to fix another update issue: Some 64 bit OS’s cannot update to Vista SP2.
Hopefully in the future these updates can be tested more thoroughly before they are released!
The only browser that I don't seem to have any problems with is Safari. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to check with this BSOD code? Are you using Windows Vista 64-bit? My HP Pavilion dv7 (also a new laptop, like many who have commented) is now up and running again, though for some reason Trillian is still being difficult (I get numerous I used safe mode with networking and was able to follow the link to a helpful note online that explained this same process.
